Friends can now have private nicknames, with Reset name restoring the saved name from when they were added. Set an account name before adding players or sharing your friend code.
Turning a battlefield into Ivern's Brush now also removes that battlefield's ability, so Risen Altar no longer keeps discounting Empower costs for units standing there.
Stacked Deck and Ekko, Recurrent are now marked as banned in Standard and Constructed 2v2, and decks containing them are flagged as illegal.
Deck Builder cards with more than one printing now carry an art button in Full Art view, opening the same art picker the List view offers.
Dropdown lists such as card search filters, Deck Builder sorting, and Sealed controls now follow the dark theme instead of opening as a white list with near-white text.
Changelog
Week 38
Sep 14–20, 2026
Deck Builder and Sealed now offer six desktop Full Art card sizes, grouping and sorting in Full Art, and a two-column deck layout when there is enough room. Quantity controls appear on hover or keyboard focus and stay visible on touch screens.
The phone lobby's top bar now meets the screen edge, removing the extra gap above the lobby controls.
Matchmaking and room entry now refresh expired sign-in tokens during recovery. Temporary connection failures show an explanation while preserving your search; sessions that need a new sign-in pause instead of endlessly reconnecting.
Release Friends & messages: Signed-in players can add friends, chat privately, invite online friends to play or watch, and watch a friend's game with that friend's hand visible. Click a friend's name in chat to view their badges. Chats adapt to the phone keyboard and support Enter to send and Shift+Enter for a new line.
Customize your emote wheel with three new free reactions: 🍀 Good luck, 🙏 Thanks, and 🤝 Good game.
Automatic name checks are more lenient toward edgy wordplay and self-descriptive names, while still banning explicit hateful attacks and threats.
While a community rules request waits for an answer, the status note in match chat now says how long answers are currently taking, so a quiet queue looks slow rather than broken. It appears once the question reaches the community, and goes away as soon as an answer arrives.
On a phone, the board now keeps the phone layout even when the screen reports itself as wider than a phone, such as when the browser page zoom is below 100%, the system display size is set small, or you asked for the desktop site. Those screens used to fall back to the tablet layout, which stretched the board and shrank the cards. Cards are larger on them now too. Tablets and foldables are unchanged.
Opening a card's details no longer nudges the whole page sideways, and the details no longer sit behind the card list while the card grows into place.
Opening a card now grows it into place instead of cutting to it, so it is clear which card you opened. This works from either view of the card list and from the Deck Builder catalog, and on a tap as well as a click.
Switching between light and dark now sweeps the new theme out from the button you pressed, instead of the page changing all at once. The circle keeps moving until it has covered the screen. If you prefer reduced motion, the theme still switches instantly.
Switching the card list between images and list view now carries each card from its place in the grid to its row and back, instead of redrawing the page. Changing the sort settles the new results into place the same way.
Moving a card between your Main Deck and Sideboard in the Deck Builder now carries the card across to its new section instead of having it vanish from one list and appear in the other. This works in both the List and Full Art views. When you still hold copies in both sections nothing moves on screen, because the card stays in both places and only the counts change.
Choosing **View** on a friend request notification now opens that request ready to answer. Its Accept and Decline buttons were drawn underneath the friends drawer, so they were visible but did not respond.
Cards no longer snap back to your hand or base after a brief connection hiccup. A move that was waiting on a slow or dropped connection is kept and delivered once the connection returns, a lost connection is now noticed within seconds instead of on your next move, and a short reconnect resumes from where you were instead of reloading the whole board. If a move really had to be discarded, the game now tells you so.
Friends and private messages are now reachable during a match. The in-game Spectators control opens your friends list, shows a dot when a message or request is waiting, and opens a conversation beside the board without leaving the game. It is available on phones, tablets, and the collapsed desktop sidebar.
Actions no longer get lost when both players act at the same moment. Counters, rune taps, draws, and other inputs sent while your opponent's move was still arriving now apply in order instead of reverting after repeated retries.
Custom playmats and card sleeves no longer make the board less fluid. The playmat's energy effect now animates only during its brief bursts instead of running continuously, sleeve artwork loads a card-back-sized rendition instead of the full-resolution file, and the Super Galaxy Snack Force playmat ships 1920px and 3840px board images so most desktop screens stop downloading the largest artwork.
The board no longer disappears and reloads during setup when another player's playmat finishes loading; the new artwork now appears in place.
Moving units back into a battlefield you already held or conquered this turn now opens a Showdown again, including combat when enemy units arrived there in the meantime. Retaking it that turn no longer scores or draws, matching the once-per-turn Conquer rule, and once both players have passed the Showdown closes on its own instead of asking you to confirm.
Simulator highlight and compact styles now apply as designed: the active customization slot and selected identity tiles show their highlight ring, compact controls and counters use their smaller sizes, and hover and active tones render with their intended colors.
The Simulator now counts cards with two printed types, such as Unit Gear, in both type buckets of a deck's stats, matching the Deck Builder.
Buy on TCGplayer links now open the exact product listing when the daily price sync knows it, instead of a name search. Cards without a known listing still open the search.
Card prices now match cards whose provider set name differs from the Rift Atlas set name, such as Proving Grounds and promotional printings.
Deck totals no longer count tokens as unpriced cards, so decks that list tokens show an exact total once every purchasable card has a price.
In multiplayer rooms, revealing your hand or a hidden card to every player now also shows it to spectators, matching duels. Reveals limited to chosen players stay private to them.
Deck inspection buttons now fit Chinese labels without clipping or overlapping selection. Compact layouts keep the To hand shortcut and selection actions instead of showing the full hover menu.
Selected token artwork now carries over to later games in a best-of-three match and rematches.
New cosmetics now have an overlapping New label and a red notification dot on Customize. A brief glimpse starts a 1.5-second countdown that continues after moving away; unseen indicators expire 36 hours after release. Viewed items are remembered in this browser.
In counter mode, including while holding C, left-click adds 1 and right-click subtracts 1 without moving the card to Trash. New Might counters start from the unit's Might, hover help explains the controls, and right-clicking an existing counter number also subtracts 1.
Rotating a zoomed game now updates the board arrangement. Short landscape touch layouts move exhausted battlefield cards toward their row's outer edge and fit larger score points above a compact turn button.
Champion+ members can equip LootPixie artwork for Gold, Sand Soldier, Shadow Clone, Sprite, Tentacle, and the new Baron Pit customization category, plus the LootPixie × The Poro Pack sleeve.
Players can leave a stuck game or reset a stuck search and start again while old-room cleanup runs in the background. A fresh search replaces the previous queue attempt; resetting a search keeps unrelated saved games available. Late responses cannot reopen an abandoned match, silent matchmaking connections retry automatically, and Next Game is no longer offered after an opponent leaves and ends the match.
