Jayce | Gear Ramp Control | Deck Guide

Jayce is a Mind/Body ramp-control deck built around getting extra uses from its gear. His Legend ability spends 1 Energy and exhausts to ready a gear, or two gear while Empowered. This lets Platewyrm Egg generate Energy again in the same turn and can reuse Garbage Grabber for additional card draw. Mobilize and Catalyst of Aeons accelerate your rune development, pushing you toward your expensive engines ahead of schedule.

Early game: Prioritize ramp and survival. Mobilize and Catalyst of Aeons channel additional runes, while Platewyrm Egg develops into a repeatable Energy source. Bellows Breath, Wages of Pain and Deadly Flourish help contain early boards while you set up.

Mid game: Start converting your gear into repeated value. Jayce can ready an exhausted Platewyrm Egg for another burst of Energy or Garbage Grabber for another draw. Promising Future provides another way to cheat expensive cards into play, while your interaction buys the time needed to reach the top of your curve.

Late game: Dazzling Aurora becomes your primary engine, playing the next unit from your deck at the end of each turn without paying its cost. With only a small number of units in the deck, it is heavily weighted toward finding Elder Dragon, whose ability makes any damage you deal lethal to enemy units. Once the engine is established, repeated free threats and efficient removal make it increasingly difficult for the opponent to recover.
