Copy of Riven Tempo Midrange

As with all movement-based decks, our main game plan revolves around tempo and value while filling our hands with a toolbox of tools that nobody can break through! We'll use some bigger bodies and tricks to close out the game, but let's talk about our value pieces first:

Value

• "Stellacorn Herder" - Best card draw, no explanation needed. Draw 3 with "Ride the Wind", good with "Tideturner", etc.
• "Treasure Hunter" - Super fragile which could be a big issue, but being able to generate Treasures so early on allows us to curve out properly (interaction is power heavy). Also benefits from interactions listed above.
• "Reckless Innovator" - While it has a decent body and you could accelerate it to curve out, it's a bit slow for a turn 2 play and I found it usually works better as a mid/late game card draw option vs. a consistent Treasure generator.
• "Tide Turner" - Pretty self-explanatory why there's 3x in here. Pseudo-ganking, enables our movement cards, reposition flexibility, hidden bluffs, etc.
• "Astral Heron" - works especially well here as you're able to play it to a battlefield you control (procs itself), get immediate value after, and utilize its big body to potentially swing instantly. Also generates more value with hidden during other turns and enables cards like "Rebuke" and "Star-Crossed" to almost be free!

Interaction

• "Back Off" - It lets you play mind games with your opponents, draw cards if you're desperate, and potentially waste combats or even win them! I found it works fairly well with our weaker creature package too.
• "Defy" & "Discipline" - Not gonna explain. Every single calm deck has these.
• "Gust" - Works really well in this deck as most of our creatures can be protected. Can disrupt enemy tempo early and can be used to double-proc movement/exhaust-based cards for even more value if you control a battlefield! Too many copies could gum up early draws though.
• "Rebuke" - Can be played for free if you have "Astral Heron" and a hidden card on the field. Could also be used to save your own units in a pinch. 2x power hurts quite a bit, but we should have ways to mitigate this.
• "Star-Crossed" - Holds more utility than "Rebuke" but having to hold 3 energy open isn't always feasible/ideal. Also, while having to return one of our own creatures can make for some value plays, it also makes this card much more situational.
• "Switcheroo" - Always worth having 1 copy in your deck for hidden bluffs and big creatures.
• "Ride the Wind" - One of the best spells in this deck. It allows for surprise showdowns, enables movement/exhaust value afterwards, can dodge removal, etc. 3x could mess with curve and gum up early draws though.

Other

• "Riven, Deserter" - While purple Riven is a bit harder to curve and is usually played later, she buffs herself while enabling our value cards and can allow for some surprise showdowns and combat tricks!
• "Blade of the Exile" - Great stats, lets us avoid equip / enable exhaust and gank! I tried 2x but 3x is worth it.
• "Meditation" - Great source of card draw and I feel that this card is better than "Life from Stone" as we're not forced to exhaust. We also should have enough treasures to curve out properly so channeling the rune isn't super important.
• "Zhonya's Hourglass" - We're not running a super heavy creature deck, so they're quite important to us! The fact that this card is only 2 energy AND has hidden means it's never really dead in our hand.
• "Whiteflame Protector" - The best of the big green/purple finishers for Riven in my opinion ("Vilemaw" lacks synergy, "Baron Nashor" is too slow, and "Angler Wyrm" is too situational). Being able to swing for +16 might the turn you play it is very often game-ending. 1x should be ok due to our card draw too.
