The deck also includes a strong package of combat buffs and defensive tools to punish aggressive pushes. Cards such as Discipline, Friendship, and En Guard provide the flexibility needed to survive sudden battlefield pressure while maintaining favorable trades. In addition, Galio serves as an important defensive piece, helping protect Ivern Friend of All, which acts as the deck’s primary win condition through its additional hold point effect.
The overall strategy revolves around intentionally stacking a battlefield and encouraging the opponent to commit resources in an attempt to contest it. Throughout the game, the deck gradually disrupts the opponent’s setup by pulling key units out of position and forcing unfavorable trades. By the time the opponent realizes the true threat posed by Ivern’s additional hold point, they are often forced into a desperate attempt to remove him. At that stage of the game, however, the deck should already have an established board presence alongside enough combat tricks and buffs in hand to protect Ivern and close out the match.
Version 1.5 shifts the deck away from the original “Get Over Here” identity and toward a more refined battlefield control strategy, while still retaining elements of the original pull package through two copies of Skyward Strike and two copies of Charm. The overall focus of the deck is now less about repeatedly dragging enemy units into unfavorable fights and more about controlling battlefield tempo, limiting enemy options, and protecting the deck’s primary win condition: Ivern Friend of All.
Several changes were made to streamline the deck’s defensive consistency. The number of combat buff cards, including Discipline and Friendship, was reduced in favor of more proactive utility and board control. Blitzcrank was removed and replaced with Vi Peacekeeper, giving the deck access to more explosive surprise ambush opportunities and improved battlefield pressure. Both Alpha Wildclaw and Galio were removed from the main list as the deck transitioned away from a stat-heavy defensive shell.
To compensate, two copies of Vilemaw were added to help maintain defensive pressure on key battlefields and reinforce Ivern’s survivability. Green Ivern was also included to improve card draw and overall resource consistency throughout longer games. In addition, Hidden Blade was added as a low-commitment defensive tool that can be deployed onto a battlefield to help stabilize combat once opponents recognize the threat posed by Ivern’s additional hold point.
The sideboard was also adjusted to improve matchup flexibility. Two copies of Alpha Wildclaw remain available as optional replacements for Vilemaw depending on the matchup and expected value. Against spell-heavy decks, two copies each of Call the Weak and Flurry of Feathers provide additional disruption and utility.
One of the most significant strategic changes in Version 1.5 is the transition toward negative battlefields. Rather than simply stacking a favorable battlefield and forcing fights there, the deck now aims to control the opponent’s preferred battlefield while pressuring them into committing to unfavorable battlefield conditions. This creates difficult positioning decisions and further enhances the deck’s ability to dictate the pace of the game.
Finally, the addition of two copies of Emperor's Divide gives the deck an entirely new layer of flexibility. In situations where battlefield positioning becomes unfavorable, Emperor’s Divide allows you to pull your units back to base and rapidly pivot to another battlefield, creating unexpected swings in control and opening alternate paths to victory.
